| So, since I have not updated this thing in forever, I thought I'd copy my blog about going to Cornerstone festival from MySpace onto here. So here it is, enjoy.
So I got back from another amazing Cornerstone on Sunday, so I'll just list some of the highlights for you all. On monday (Tooth and Nail day) I saw Destroy the Runner, recently signed to Solid State, which sounded a whole lot like As I Lay Dying, and I mean a lot, and the acoustic set with Devin from Emery, which was quite amazing, he has an incredibly voice and did some great acoustic versions of Emery songs (he's not touring with them this summer as he just got married, the rest of the band was on Warped tour in California), and I caught the end of the Fold, and then saw Becoming the Archetype, and there's really only one way to describe BTA, and that is metal, their sound, their look, everything about them was just so metal, and so good. Then I saw August Burns Red, who is my favorite metal/hardcore band right now, they just blow me away, and their concert definately did not disappoint. After that I saw As Cities Burn, who I have never really gotten into, but they definately put on a great show, I just kinda wished I would have known the songs, and then I saw Dead Poetic, who were pretty dissapointing, they played several new songs, and I didn't like a single one of them. Then Showbread played their set, which was great (very energetic), but it worries me how much their lead singer Josh Dies is looking more and more like Marylin Manson. Then was mewithoutYou, who played one of the best concerts I've ever seen, their new songs sounded all so amazing, and they played some old ones too, it was just all around amazing. Then on Wednesday I saw Devin (of Emery) play again, which was fairly similar to the first set, but still very very good. Then I saw the Chariot on main stage, who is supposed to have a great live show, but they just didn't sound that great on main stage, and definately didn't get the crowd into it, and after that was Norma Jean, who sounded great, I definately have a lot more respect for their vocalist after hearing him live (even if he isn't as good as Josh Scogin) and to close their set, Norma Jean played the ever-amazing song Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste, which was phenomenal as their old vocalist Josh Scogin (of the Chariot) came out to scream along with Cory (Norma Jean's current vocalist) and then Aaron Weiss (of mewithoutYou) came out to do his guest vocalist part, I later heard someone joke that the only way it could have gotten any better is if Jesus himself came down during that song. Then was As I Lay Dying, who played a very solid set, complete with some incredibly huge hardcore dancing pits. Then was Underoath, who was absolutely amazing (except for the really annoying kid right next to me singing off-pitch as loud as he possibly could to every single song) Then at midnight I went to see Lovedrug instead of Demon Hunter (I heard DH was super good) which I didn't really regret since Lovedrug played an amazing show. Then on Thursday, I saw mewithoutYou play on main stage. At first I was curious how they would do on main stage, since they seem like they would be better on a smaller venue, but they were still incredibly good. Their show was one of the weirdest Cornerstone's main stage has ever seen, complete with a guy in a bird suit dancing around on stage. One of their new songs, which they ended both sets with, is just... hauntingly good, it's just amazing beyond words, so you definately need to get the new CD, "Brother, Sister" when it drops on September 26. Then was Copeland, who is a great band, but is vocally driven, and their vocals just seemed to suck, partially because of the sound mix, and partially because he was singing (or so it seemed) an octave lower than usual and doing none of his usual falsetto singing, which made their whole set sound lame, so I left halfway through (after hearing "You Have My Attention" which was the only song that sounded good) Then I went to the HM mag stage and saw a newer band on Floodgate records, called Bernard, who were absolutely amazing, during their entire set, they had a projector set up playing random, black and white, grainy video clips (matching the songs) that seemed to be from the 1950s or older, which complimented their eerily peacefuly sounding music, their sound is something between the Myriad and Cool Hand Luke, so definately check them out. Then up next was Mute Math, who put on a show that was definately one of the best I've seen, there's really no way to describe it, but the energy was insane, so if you ever have a chance to see Mute Math, absolutely take it, because you must see their live show for yourself. Then was Zao, who put on a very energetic great show, but I left part way to to check out the new Cool Hand Luke (with only one original member) they sounded fairly similar to their older sound, just with piano. Then on Friday, I saw House of Heroes, who put on a good show. Then I saw the Myriad, then War of Ages, and then Chasing Victory (who if you haven't checked out, you need to). Then I saw Becoming the Archetype again... wow. Then I saw Haste the Day with their new vocalist. The new vocalist has a great scream, but a little lower than Jimmy's (the old vocalist), kinda similar to August Burns Red's screamer. A lot of people seemed to not like the new guys scream, b/c it was different, and their used to Jimmy's scream. Then on Saturday, I saw Timbre (she played harp with mewithoutYou on both of their sets) play some of her music on the harp and sing, and wow, that was some of the most incredibly beautiful music I have ever heard, there's just no other way to describe it, and I also didn't know you could do harmonics on a harp, but apparantly you can. Then I saw Chasing Victory again, and then I saw Bradley Hathaway doing his poetry, which was pretty hilarious, but I was very sad, since seeing Bradley meant I had to miss seing Leigh Nash (formerly of Sixpence None The Richer). Then I saw August Burns Red again, who were again, phenomenal. So that's what I can dig out of my memory about Cornerstone, but I'm sure there's a lot more up there, and I'm sure that I've forgotten several bands that I've seen, but I hope that gives you a rough idea about what my Cornerstone was like, and if you've read this entire thing, thank you, I hope it was worth your time.

| Hello everyone
So it's been a little while since I've updated this. Last week I
was in Norton for my spring/Easter break, which was absolutely great,
but not long enough. It was so nice to get to sleep in. So
here are some things I did on break. I got to go to church back in
Norton twice, hung out with Stephen, helped my dad re-shingle our
garage (which got me a nice sunburn), a little bit of homework, went
with Joel up to Arapahoe for some school music thing (mostly so he
could see Markie), slept in nearly every day, got my
drivers license renewed (fun, fun), so those are some of the incredibly
exciting things (*slight sarcasm) I did on break, but I had fun.
Also a little tip for all of you, Kansas is about the easiest
state to get your drivers license renewed in I think. All you
have to do is take this short multiple choice test, which I could have
passed without studying for, and even better, it's open book. You
would have to be completely retarded to fail it, and, I don't think the
lady even graded mine after I turned it in, and you don't even
have to take the test at the drivers license renewal place, you can
take it home and then bring it back once you've got it filled
out. It helped me to realize how so many horrible old drivers can
still keep their license (as long as they can still pass the vision
test, which isn't too hard either) So then me and Joel came back
Sunday night to college. I drove most of the way back, which
wasn't too bad. These first days of classes since I've been back
haven't been too bad, but I'm so ready to just be done, and the nice
weather doesn't help much. I love this college, but I'm just
ready for summer to be here. Well, that's all for now, I guess, I
hope you all had a great Easter, and have a great day.

| So the Tooth and Nail tour was awesome. I made blog for MySpace aboot it, so I'll just copy and past it onto here...
So last night I went to see the Tooth and Nail tour in Omaha at the
Sokol Underground. Me, Joel, and Stephen VonSpreckleson (who also
became an uncle yesterday) went to the show. We left early and stopped
by the Omaha school of massage therapy, where Joel's twin sister,
Jessica, goes to school, and got a free massage, which felt absolutely
amazing. Anyways, then we went to the old market and wandered around
for about an hour. Then we headed to Sokol. When we got there, we
were standing in the wrong line for a little while, because there were
two shows that night, one in the auditorium (upstairs) and one in the
underground (downstairs). I'd never heard of the guy playing in the
auditorium, but judging by the people waiting in line, he was some
hippie, b/c there was lots of hippies there. Anyways, so once we got
in, we got great spots up front. We were there really early, and at
first it looked like there wasn't going to be very many people there,
but eventually it filled up. I also was surprised at seeing some
people from SW Nebraksa (near my hometown of Norton, KS) that I haven't
seen in a long time, which was really cool. The first band that played
was Jonezetta, who sounded ok, they reminded me a little bit of the
band Jet. The second band to play was the Classic Crime, who is really
good. Once their new CD, Albatross, comes out, I really want to get
it, b/c it should be really solid. (you should go listen to 'em on
PureVolume or MySpace) Classic Crime was kinda a.... indie rock-ish
sounding band I guess. So the third band was Far-Less, who is
relatively new to Tooth and Nail, but not as new as the first two
bands. I honestly don't know what to think of that band. They were so
unusual that I don't know how to categorize them musically. There was
some elements of hardcore in it, but it wasn't hardcore. The vocalist
sang and screamed (man did he have an amazing scream) and to be quite
honest, he seemed crazy. He kinda reminded (the way he moved around on
stage and the way he looked, and the whole seeming crazy thing) like
Aaron Weiss of mewithoutYou. So, Far-Less, was.... I don't know what
to think of them. Then came Anberlin, who was good. I'm not a big of
a fan of them as I used to be, but I still kinda like 'em. I think
that Anberlin has gotten better live than they used to be. I saw them
in 2004, and they sucked it up. I saw them in 2005 too, and they were
very mediocre, their stage presence was almost boring. I saw them
again back in February of this year with Hawthorne Heights, and they
were a lot better. And again this time, they were still good. So, I'm
glad they've gotten better live. Anyways, after Anberlin came the band
everyone came to see... Emery. This was the... third time I've seen
Emery, and it was quite possibly the best show I've seen by them. We
had a great spot up front and the singer came over to where we were a
bunch to let us sing in the mic, which was cool. It was so amazing
singing and screaming every line to all those amazing songs along with
tons of other people. Emery was so incredibly good live, as always.
After the show was over my voice was gone. But man, Emery was so
amazing. Then we had the long drive home, which was kinda lame, and
then I had to get up for my 1 class today, but now that that's over, my
spring/Easter break has begun, no more classes til a week from Monday,
hurray! Anyways, here are the pictures from the show, sorry about the
Anberlin and Emery ones, but the smoke machine makes it hard to get
very good pictures.

Have a great day everyone

| Hey everyone
Happy April, the month of my birthday. So things have been goin'
pretty good, school is busy. I went to a concert in Omaha on
friday night, which was really awesome I wrote more about it on my
MySpace blog and have pictures, so if you're interested, you can check
that out (www.myspace.com/iamdancummings,
blog.myspace.com/iamdancummings) The cool part about going to the
concert was that we got there early and got to check out the old market
in Omaha, which is this amazing part of town with all kinds of shops
and resteraunts and stuff, and it's super cool, that got me stoked
about being in Omaha this fall. On thursday I'm going to Omaha
(different venue) to a conert with Emery, Anberlin, Far-Less, The
Classic Crime, and Jonezetta (the Tooth and Nail tour) which is going
to be absolutely amazing. I'll definately put the pictures on my
MySpace, but maybe I'll put some on here too if you're lucky.
Also lately, I've been addicted to the game Minesweeper, which is
really simple, yet addictive. next weekend I'll be back in Norton
for the start of my spring/Easter break, which is a week long, so I'll
get to see all you Norton people again. Also on Friday I bought
the new Further Seems Forever CD, which is kinda a best hits, plus some
unreleased songs and stuff, which I really didn't need since I have all
their CDs and I would only be buying the CD for a few songs, but they
are one of my favorite bands, so I thought that I would go ahead and
buy it anyways. Well, that's about it for now, leave me lots of
comments and stuff.

| So, school has been going ok, but kinda stressful. Today,
thankfully, there was so much snow that they cancelled classes, and I
got to sleep til noon, which was absolutely wonderful. I bought
the Jack's Mannequin CD the other day, and it's really good, it's kinda
pop-rock-emo-ish with piano in it, which is a nice addition.
anyways, this weekend was fun, I just took it easy and hung out with
peoples, but unfortunately I didn't get much homework done. Man,
there is so much snow outside, it's crazy. Also going back to the
music thing, there's a new band that you all need to hear called Fair,
you can listen to them at www.MySpace.com/Fair, they're really
good. Well, I really can't think of much else to say, I'm sure I
have more to say, I just can't think of it, so you all have a great day.
